10Mbps or 100Mbps up link port for a dedicated server

17 Comments »

There are hundreds of quality dedicated server providers around the world. Some dedicated server offers come with 10Mbps and some with 100Mbps up link port speed – what should I chose when ordering a dedicated server?

In order to understand network speed, let’s look at the following transfer speeds and calculations:
1024Kbps = 1Mbps (316GB per month if used 24/7).
10Mbps used 24/7 can transfer 3164GB per month or 105.4GB per day.

Personal goals list

The art of goal setting is that it is one of the most powerful processes that are used for personal planning. The actual stage of setting goals helps a person to realize where they want to go in life as an individual. Flash video mime type

2 Comments »

If you are experiencing problems with flash video hosting and getting errors because of the incorrect header value it may be that the mime type has not been correctly set-up.

Flash video files have extension .flv and mime type: video/x-flv

Edit your web server config and add this mime type setting.

Updating apache, php and other libs for Cpanel servers using root shell

No Comments »

In order to update Apache, php and all the other required libs and packages you can execute

/scripts/easyapache

under root user via server shell. You will be provided with a few choices to continue installation with gd, freetype, phpsuexec,  load previous config – depending on your system requirements. I usually choose option #5 but you may try #7 that will load previous config.
